What can I expect during our photography session?

Newborn

Baby photo shoots can take up to 2 hours (sometimes even a little longer).  I always follow the baby’s lead --if the baby is fussy or wants to eat, we take a break.  The baby’s needs come first!

I highly recommend this session be completed within the first four to seven days of your little one’s delivery to ensure peak sleepiness.  This helps ensure that I can safely curl and mold your newborn into a completely adorable - yet comfortable - position. If possible, feed a newborn just prior to our session to helps the snooziness factor!

Clients sometimes do not realize that I will also take some Mommy/Daddy and baby photos, if that is of interest to the parents.  Some parents have little time or energy for showers, hair, and make up during the first few days after baby arrives, but might be more comfortable having their picture taken if they primp ahead of time!

This is always a custom shoot, meaning that I customize the shoot to your needs.  If you have any ideas or thoughts on particular concepts or poses you like, I will do my best to make your vision a reality.

Newborn shoots are always taken in the comfort of your home.  Natural lighting is always the most beautiful to any subject, particularly a newborn.  If you approve, I will walk around your home to identify the prime photography location.

Finally, be prepared for the possibility that your little bundle of joy may not cooperate with a pose that you are dying to have.  I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve to lull a little one into a desired pose, but occasionally, he or she has other ideas!

Maternity

This session typically lasts an hour and is often held at an outdoor location, although some soon-to-be-moms prefer pictures at home or in the nursery.  I will always take into consideration your own personal style so I can best capture your unique beauty.  Most maternity sessions are photographed at 30-33 weeks pregnant, but earlier or later shoots are completely okay!

What can I expect after our photography session?

Every photography session is distinctive and specially planned for each client.  The prices found on my Investment page include my time and talent as well as professionally edited and artistically enhanced digital images that will be emailed to you.

Soon after our session, I will post a link to your photographs on Facebook or my blog.

Photographs from your session may be used by LRG Photography for marketing purposes both online (including Facebook, my website and blog) and in print.

Why are your photography packages priced higher than other photographers I have found online?

Some photographers charge a minimal “sitting fee” or “retainer,” but then charge their clients a very high price to print the pictures or assemble an album.  Some only provide a handful of photos that have been edited or provide hundreds of unedited photos.

The flat package price also includes the many hours of enhancements and professional editing that coalesce into a timeless photograph! So if, by chance, a client wakes up to the horror of a cold sore on the day of a shoot, or a precious newborn has an oh-so-slight case of baby acne, rest assured that it will be minimized or eliminated from your final photographs!
